A Reimagined Bedford Cheese Shop to be Unveiled this Week
BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PRWEB) March 29, 2018 -- What’s a little cheese shop to do when Whole Foods moves in a few yards from your front door? The answer, according to owner Jason Scherr, is to “create a new food and beverage experience that Whole Foods/Amazon can’t replicate, one that is based on high levels of customer service and human interaction, dedicated exclusively to small food producers.”
On Bedford Avenue for the past fifteen years – and long before Williamsburg was what it is today -- Bedford Cheese Shop’s knowledgeable cheesemongers have been selling the finest farmstead cheeses. That business will remain at its core. But last month a temporary wall went up in the middle of its new location at 265 Bedford Avenue, and, when the wall comes down this Friday March 30th, the shop will be offering a new experience.
Appetizing will be added, including the Rockaway bagel, which boasts pastrami salmon, house-cured pickled beets, and a slathering of Ben’s Cream Cheese. There will also be a full espresso bar featuring Think Coffee, which roasts its Social Project Coffee just a few blocks away.
“We have always been about selling the best and most unusual comfort food based on European traditions,” says Scherr. “Small production cheeses, the finest charcuterie, have been what we do. Now we are excited to add another European tradition, a Jewish/Eastern European tradition of appetizing, and nothing goes better with a bagel and a shmear than a good cup of responsibly-sourced coffee.”
The reimagined Bedford Cheese Shop will remain a local institution, offering expanded food options while remaining true to its roots as a local Brooklyn business.
Bedford Cheese Shop is located at 265 Bedford Avenue between N. 1st and Grand Street, just a few blocks south of the Bedford L stop.
Opening Hours: M-F 10 to 9, Sa 9-9 and Su 9-8
