Launching a statewide campaign to ensure every school in Connecticut has a dedicated bleeding control kit.

Z-Medica, LLC, a leading developer and marketer of hemostatic devices, announces today the launch of a statewide campaign to ensure every school in Connecticut has a dedicated bleeding control kit.

Developed in conjunction with the Stop the Bleed initiative and National Stop the Bleed Day, which is recognized on March 31, the campaign aims to ensure every school across Connecticut is prepared with the tools necessary to control bleeding in the event of a traumatic injury.

According to trauma experts, someone can bleed to death in minutes unless measures are taken to stem the bleeding. In fact, approximately 40% of trauma-related deaths worldwide are due to bleeding or its consequences. Yet experts say it is one of the most preventable causes of death if injuries are treated promptly.1

During National Stop the Bleed Day, local, state and regional organizations are offering free classes to train participants on various techniques to treat severe bleeding and potentially save lives in an emergency.

“No one, especially our children, should die from uncontrolled bleeding; we can prepare our schools,” said Eric Compton, President and CEO of Z-Medica. “Bleeding control kits can be immensely useful when available at a moment’s notice – certainly in the case of school violence – but also incredibly valuable for other types of injuries that occur regularly within schools in places like the shop classroom, gymnasium or playground.”

This new campaign will offer parents, community members and businesses the opportunity to assist in increasing the preparedness of their local schools by investing in the placement of bleeding control kits in critical locations.

Z-Medica will release additional details on this campaign in the coming weeks.
