CalALTs Releases 2018 Operational Insights in Alternative Funds

Overview of current issues of interest to the alternative asset management industry

The California Alternative Investments Association (CalALTs), a not-for-profit organization whose members include alternative asset managers, investors and service providers dedicated to the continuing evolution of the alternative asset management industry in California, just released a new white paper entitled: "2018 Operational Insights in Alternative Funds." The paper focuses on:

  • Marketing and pay to play developments
  • Emerging manager operations and operational due diligence
  • Private funds with one or no operations professionals
  • Corporate culture and organizational architecture
  • The current state of expense allocations
  • The challenges with big data
  • Cryptocurrencies and institutional investors

"We are delighted to publish our second annual operational best practices white paper. We believe that collaboration with our peers through CalALTs has been a great way to understand what is happening in the market locally and nationally," said Lauri Martin Haas, PRISM, LLC, Chair of the CalALTs Best Practices Committee, who together with members of the committee produced the report.
