Frankie Hirsch’s New Book “Chronicles of an African Baby” Is a Provoking Tale That Shatters Cultural and Civic Clichés Still Practiced by Today’s Societies
CLIFTON, N.J. (PRWEB) April 09, 2018 -- Frankie Hirsch, a profound and dedicated writer whose compositions were published in professional journals, has completed her new book “Chronicles of an African Baby”: a book of great significance that tells the life of an African woman and her experiences with culture, cruelty, and bigotry in her homeland in foreign soil.
Author Hirsch expounds the gravity of unfairness and intolerance to femininity and a society that still clings to patriarchal norms that had left women in the shadows: “At the center, I was forced to shower in front of the other women. We were given clothes and taken to the medical facility where we all received an injection. The nurse was an African American woman who remarked, ‘You, Africans, are the ones that make us all look bad.’ I had no idea what she meant. I soon learned I had to find ways of trading for food and toiletries as I had no one to put money in an account for me at the commissary. An old Chinese woman, also in the center, taught me how to make origami flowers. I sold flowers for soap, crackers, and toiletries. I ate the instant hot spicy noodles from the commissary to the point I will never eat it again. The favorite food that was served was hotdogs.”
Published by New York City-based Page Publishing, Frankie Hirsch’s remarkable memoir speaks a multitude of social and cultural biases as well as the conflict of racism. This book conveys a message of strength to the voiceless and weak and pushes further the will to survive overwhelming circumstances in life.
