Rita Robbins Receives Women-to-Watch Award from Investment News
NEW YORK (PRWEB) April 05, 2018 -- Rita Robbins, president and founder of Affiliated Advisors (http://www.affiliatedadvisors.com), received the “Women to Watch” award from industry publication Investment News.
Over 400 industry professionals attended the third annual award luncheon which took place at the Pierre Hotel. Award recipients were selected for their leadership roles and contributions to advancing the position of women in the financial services industry.
In accepting the award, Robbins thanked her husband and compared herself to the fictitious but inspiring character, Mary Richards from The Mary Tyler Moore show. “Mary had a tough boss,” Robbins said. “And she was paid less than the man who previously held her job. She had dreams and ambition. I honestly don’t think that younger women realize how different things were then; when newspaper jobs were divided into two sections — men and women.”
Rita went on to urge, not only her daughter but all young women to “ignore cultural stereotypes, the unspoken rules and hard boundaries because…you’re gonna to make it after all!”
