New Art Instruction Video On Urban Pastel Painting by Nancie King Mertz
BOCA RATON, Fla. (PRWEB) April 09, 2018 -- Liliedahl Art Instruction Videos has just released a new instructional video from Nancie King Mertz titled Urban Pastel Painting. Please consider making your readers aware. (A link to the video for your review and a link to high-resolution photographs is below.)
This video training is conducted by urban landscape master painter Nancie King Mertz. A Master Signature member of the Pastel Society of America and the Chicago Pastel Painters, Nancie has had her work featured on the cover of Pastel Journal and in PleinAir Magazine, and appears in collections around the world. With an extensive fine art education, Nancie teaches across the U.S. and internationally and is on the faculty of the Plein Air Convention and the International Association of Pastel Societies Convention.
In this art video demonstration, Nancie brings the excitement of the urban landscape to life as she guides students, step by step, to paint a unique bridge scene in pastel. She teaches valuable lessons on perspective, layering color, positive and negative painting, light and shadow effects, and more, all of it coming together to create a bustling urban landscape painting.
Mertz says about painting bridges, “The positive space becomes calligraphy across the sky!”
This painting demonstration will help students understand how to portray sunlight and shadow with layering effects, color techniques, and positive and negative painting. Painting bridges is all about vanishing points, so Nancie shares her tips on composition and proportion that will add accuracy and drama to any urban subject! Starting with a charcoal “tick mark” road map, students move to an underpainting using alcohol and a brush to give a strong structure to the painting. From there they will follow along with Nancie to add layers of darks and lights that build contrast and pattern for a painting that pulls the viewer in and helps them appreciate the grandeur and interest found in everyday cityscape subjects.
Urban Pastel Painting is now available on DVD and streaming video through Liliedahl Art Instruction Video.
