Patient care is of paramount importance to us and having an integrated CDS system within our ICE electronic requesting solution will ensure that correct and appropriate diagnostic tests are ordered first time around
Scotland, UK (PRWEB UK) 10 April 2018
It is recognised that Clinicians with clinical decision support (CDS) available to them are 70% more likely to order the required diagnostic tests; 60% more likely to prescribe the correct medicines or other therapies; 60% more likely to monitor drug effects in line with evidence; and 40% times more likely to take appropriate preventative measures.
MedCurrent and CliniSys are collaborating to integrate the OrderWise® CDS system with CliniSys’ Integrated Clinical Environment (ICE) to enable evidence-based imaging requests at the point of care. The integrated solution supports referring clinicians and radiology teams to manage diagnostic imaging referrals more effectively; improving clinical workflow and ensuring patients get the right imaging test the first time, with minimised exposure to ionising radiation.
“Patient care is of paramount importance to us and having an integrated CDS system within our ICE electronic requesting solution will ensure that correct and appropriate diagnostic tests are ordered first time around,” says Simon Hurst, Commercial Director at CliniSys. “This will undoubtedly lead to patients getting the necessary diagnosis and vital treatment much earlier.”
CliniSys ICE is a suite of innovative, scalable, and interoperable technologies that enables different patient care units to communicate with a wide range of ancillary and clinical departments such as laboratory and radiology. Additionally, unique web-based services deliver comprehensive messaging capabilities for use in primary, community and secondary care facilities where CliniSys ICE is relied upon by over 70% of NHS Trusts in the UK. MedCurrent’s OrderWise® is a CDS solution that guides referring clinicians through differential diagnoses and helps them make the right imaging request for their patient. The solution is complemented by Analytics and Authoring Studio modules to support quality improvement initiatives and customize the system. OrderWise® now runs with the eighth edition of iRefer: Making the best use of clinical radiology, the most up-to-date referral guidance from The Royal College of Radiologists, which launched earlier this year.
"MedCurrent’s continued collaboration with CliniSys enables more appropriate, evidence-based care for patients," says John Adziovsky, Chief Executive Officer at MedCurrent. "Our team has been working closely with CliniSys to tightly integrate OrderWise into the existing radiology referral workflow within ICE, with a focus on clinical integrity and workflow efficiency. This relationship means clinicians using ICE will now have access to internationally renowned imaging recommendations delivered at the point of care to support quality improvement.”
The interoperable OrderWise® CDS solution is available in ICE v7, which has been generally available since March 2018. For more information, please contact MedCurrent or your CliniSys ICE representative.
The CliniSys Group has been successfully developing and deploying laboratory IT systems for over 25 years. 1987 saw the first system go live in a private laboratory in Belgium shortly followed by a private laboratory in the UK. This was the start of rapid growth in North East Europe with the group expanding across the UK and Belgium, into Ireland, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. CliniSys is now the market leader in these territories. Headquartered in Chertsey, Surrey, CliniSys currently provides systems to more than 2,000 laboratories across 30 countries and employs some 230 dedicated pathology IT professionals. In June 2017, CliniSys combined with the Sunquest ICE business into a single organisation with a single management infrastructure, located in the UK. Sunquest ICE and CliniSys WinPath Enterprise are market-leading solutions. Please visit http://www.clinisys.co.uk for more information.
