Ellevate Network Provides Negotiation Resources, Online Events, and Special Offer to Professional Women in Recognition of Equal Pay Day
(PRWEB) April 09, 2018 -- The leading network for professional women is addressing the gender wage gap by giving women what they need to get equal pay for themselves and act as an ally for other women.
Equal Pay Day, April 10th this year, represents the day in which a woman has to work to make the same amount of money a man did the previous calendar year. Women make up well over half of the workforce in the U.S., yet continue to make less money than men, with this gap varying by ethnicity and disproportionately affecting women of color.
Asian-American Women: $0.87
White Women: $0.79
African-American/Black Women: $0.63
Native American Women: $0.57
Latinas: $0.54
Ellevate Network is working to make sure that this gender wage gap does not continue to hold women back and negatively affect the economy. Research done by the Institute for Women’s Policy Research indicates that Equal Pay would reduce poverty by half for families with working women.
“Ellevate Network is committed to using the power of our expert community and our innovative technology solutions to make the world a more equitable place,” said Ellevate Network CEO Kristy Wallace, “During Equal Pay Day we’re reminded of the persistent inequality in wages, and we’re doing our part to change that. Getting more money in the hands of women is good for the economy and the world, and we’re working to make it happen.”
As a community of experts, Ellevate Network continuously provides relevant resources, developed by our network, to help women succeed at work. This Equal Pay Day, Ellevate Network is releasing:

There are many factors behind the gender wage gap — unconscious bias, inequity in promotion opportunities, the “motherhood penalty,” just to name a few. At the current rate, the gap will not be closed for many years, but Ellevate Network is using the power of community to work towards a more equitable work world, and help women make the money they deserve at work.
