Affordable College PBC Targets Upstate NY Community Colleges with New Success Fund
(PRWEB) April 06, 2018 -- The Affordable College Public Benefit Corporation, a B Corp founded to help community college students afford and attain a bachelor’s degree announced a new Community College Success Fund for the 2018-2019 academic year for Upstate NY Community Colleges. The funding will provide financial support for Community Colleges to increase enrollment, readiness, retention and transfer rates. Upstate NY’s Community Colleges help tens of thousands of students save millions of dollars on bachelor’s degrees annually, raising their earning potential and increasing their employability, while increasing prosperity and improving equity throughout the region.
As part of its mission as a B Corp, The Affordable College Public Benefit Corporation contributes a percentage of its revenue to funding community college success. Mohawk Valley Community College is the latest beneficiary of the new funding. Mohawk Valley Community College President Randall VanWagoner, Ph.D., has accessed this new funding for success initiatives while also continuing his support of entrepreneurial activity in the region. “Collaborating with Affordable College adds entrepreneurial energy at MVCC helping us reach more prospective MVCC students and then helping more of those students succeed. We recognize the value of having entrepreneurs working alongside us to sustain and grow the MVCC and Upstate New York region.”
