The first day of SAE International’s WCX World Congress Experience wrapped up with plenty of presentations and discussions on innovative technologies and trends in the automotive engineering industry.
SAE International’s WCX World Congress Experience is being held April 10-12 at Cobo Center in Detroit.
Keynote speaker for day one was Ken Kelzer, Vice President, Global Vehicle Components and Subsystems, General Motors. Kelzer’s speech was live-tweeted @SAEIntl. "SAE WCX will be essential to driving the conversation around autonomous vehicles for the next 50 years,” he remarked.
For the first time ever, Connect2Car debuted at WCX. Connect2Car is a specialized technical program that focuses on the future technology of connected, autonomous vehicles. Running all three days of the conference, Connect2Car will features the Connected Vehicle Challenge. This contest features five finalists selected from dozens of submissions. The finalists will present their innovations in to a panel of celebrity judges on Thursday, April 12. The winning innovation will be awarded a cash prize of $10,000. Second and third place winners will receive $5,000 and $3,000, respectively.
Also kicking off were the Leadership Summit, Knowledge Bar and Tech Hub.

Keynote speaker for day two, Wednesday, April 11, will be Bob Lutz, Former Vice Chairman, General Motors. Lutz will speak at 8 a.m. in Grand Riverview Ballroom B.
