Author Russ Mccormack’s Newly Released “When Demons Rush In” Details What Happens to the Psychological and Spiritual Fate of Mankind When Shame Turns Toxic
MEADVILLE, Pa. (PRWEB) April 18, 2018 -- “When Demons Rush In”: an examination of the impact toxic shame has on the psychology and spirituality of people. “When Demons Rush In” is the creation of published author, Russ McCormack. Born in 1963, the youngest of five sons, Russ grew up in a Protestant family from Dublin, Ireland. They moved to the United States in 1978. At twenty-four years old, Russ became a Catholic, which sent a few ripples through his Protestant heritage. He now simply regards himself as a Christian, a follower of Jesus. Russ obtained a BA in Psychology and a BA in Religious Studies in 1987 from the University of San Diego. He also completed two years of masters work at Loyola University of Chicago in 1991. In 1995, Russ received his doctoral degree in psychology, Psy. D, from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology. He has been a licensed clinical psychologist in the State of Illinois since 1996. He received his secondary social studies certification in 2003. After teaching high school for the better part of twelve years, he reentered the field of psychology. Russ is presently working in geriatric care while teaching undergraduate courses in psychology at Aurora University of Aurora, Illinois.
“As a first-time author, I have selected a subject to write about, that reflects both my professional and personal experiences. My own personal story is one of shame turned toxic, and as a licensed clinical psychologist, I have witnessed the devastating effects of toxic shame on the individual, their families, and on their communities.” --Russ McCormack
Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Russ McCormack’s new book examines an unseen epidemic.
The experience of shame is universal. It is part of the human experience. It is, however, an experience that has the potential to turn toxic. Toxic shame can wreak havoc on the psychological development and well-being of the individual. In “When Demons Rush In,” Russ McCormack reveals how toxic shame can equally disrupt and damage the spiritual nature of the human experience as well. By focusing on shame turned toxic, its roots, its causes, and its consequences, the author is seeking to draw attention to what he feels is a monumental threat to the fate of humankind.
Taking a two-pronged approach, Russ examines a devastating reality besieging today’s individual from a psychological and spiritual perspective. With special emphasis and focus on the spiritual, the author challenges readers to open their minds and hearts to a reality that remains unnoticed and unrecognized. Intertwining the literary substance of “When Demons Rush In” with a workbook component, this ten-chapter effort is designed to push readers beyond an intellectual endeavor to achieve personal change.
