NEEDHAM, Mass. (PRWEB) April 17, 2018
The Object Management Group® (OMG®), an international, open membership, not-for-profit technology standards consortium, issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) for a DDS™ Consolidated JSON Syntax (DDS-JSON). Letters of Intent to submit are due by September 7, 2018, and submissions are due by November 12, 2018.
RFP author Fernando Garcia-Aranda, senior software engineer at Real-Time Innovations, an OMG Gold sponsor and BOD member, said: “DDS has been identified as one of the core connectivity framework standards of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) by the Industrial Internet Consortium®. We believe this RFP will help extend the development of solutions for those interoperability scenarios that are crucial to the IIoT. The RFP aims to achieve a specification that employs a reusable syntax that can be leveraged to draft new specifications enriching the DDS ecosystem—especially in those defining new standard connectivity gateways.”
“JSON has become an increasingly popular lightweight syntax used to represent structured data and is often used in RESTful environments. This will enable system engineers and manages to apply DDS across a wider range of Internet of Things consistent with the goals of the OMG Model Driven Architecture®, which enables the definition of a single solution to be implemented over multiple technologies,” said OMG Vice President and Technical Director Larry L. Johnson.
