Dali Wireless Named 2018 Leading Lights Award Finalist for “Most Innovative 5G Technology”

Dali has been recognized for its innovation and leadership in enabling Open RAN with its Virtual Fronthaul Interface (vFI™)

Dali Wireless, Inc., a global leader in wireless fronthaul innovation for virtual RAN, today announced that Dali Matrix® Virtual Fronthaul Interface (vFI™) has been shortlisted as a 2018 Leading Lights Award finalist in the category of “Most Innovative 5G Technology”. As one of the telecom industry’s most prestigious awards program, Leading Lights Awards recognize technology leaders that have developed market-leading product and services that enable the launch, deployment or creation of 5G services.

New applications such as virtual reality, autonomous vehicles and massive Internet of Things are expected to thrive with 5G. However, new infrastructure is required yet again, just as it was in 2G, 3G and 4G network deployments. 5G will present even greater deployment hurdles given the massive amount of capacity and the diverse set of new applications. Mobile network operators’ (MNOs) business case for 5G will only succeed if they are able to drive costs down and stimulate innovation.

Backed by over 400 patents, Dali vFI brings advanced radio signal routing, aggregation and translation capabilities to the fronthaul network. This enables shared infrastructure, dynamic capacity allocation, and more importantly, an Open RAN.

With Open RAN, mobile network operators (MNOs) will be able to adopt best of breed products from a more competitive and innovative RAN vendor ecosystem. Open RAN effectively tears down vendor lock-in issues associated with proprietary fronthaul interfaces in traditional RAN architecture. By enabling fronthaul interoperability between different vendors’ RAN elements, Dali provides maximum investment protection while enabling a seamless, cost effective migration to 5G.
