Greenberg Traurig Continues Strategic Expansion in Washington, D.C., Adds International Arbitration Pro
WASHINGTON (PRWEB) April 19, 2018 -- Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP continues to grow its Washington, D.C. presence by adding international arbitration and dispute resolution attorney Thomas G. Allen. He joins as a shareholder in the firm’s award-winning Litigation Practice. He was previously a partner at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP.
“Tom’s strategic addition to our office’s roster will complement our key practice areas and expertise to better service our clients’ needs through the legal services we offer both nationally and worldwide,” said Laura Metcoff Klaus and Robert Mangas, co-managing shareholders of Greenberg Traurig’s Washington, D.C. office.
Allen’s practice focuses on international arbitration and is supplemented by a background representing global corporations in investigations and enforcement proceedings before U.S. government agencies. Allen has also tried jury and bench trials in state and federal courts and has extensive appellate experience. Recently, Allen was one of the lead attorneys in the successful defense of a $7 billion arbitration claim brought before the International Chamber of Commerce related to the shutdown of a nuclear power generating station in California. Allen joins the Washington, D.C. office on the heels of highly regarded capital markets practitioner Lee Ann Anderson, a shareholder in the Corporate Practice, and Daniel E. Parga, an associate in the International Trade Practice.
“Tom is a welcomed addition to our team; he can identify unique approaches and is highly skilled in litigating complex disputes, further enhancing Greenberg Traurig’s dispute resolution capabilities in the international space,” said Lori G. Cohen and Jeff E. Scott, co-chairs of the firm’s Global Litigation Practice, which has more than 600 attorneys firmwide. “Greenberg Traurig’s collaborative culture will be well served by his experience in a wide range of sectors, including nuclear and solar energy, equipment manufacturing, and aviation.”
“Greenberg Traurig’s global platform was a big draw for me,” Allen said. “When your practice is centered on cross-border disputes, it is a win-win to join GT and to be able to pair my experience with the depth and breadth that GT attorneys bring to the table in so many markets. There are natural synergies between the firm’s Litigation and International Arbitration practices and my focus and experience.”
Allen received his J.D., magna cum laude, in 2002 from The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law, and his B.A. in 1997 from The Catholic University of America.
