The Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer Announces Partnerships with the Bonnie J. Addario Lung Cancer Foundation, the Cancer Support Community and Fight Colorectal Cancer
MILWAUKEE (PRWEB) April 26, 2018 -- The Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer (SITC) today announced its new partnerships with three leading cancer organizations: the Bonnie J. Addario Lung Cancer Foundation (ALCF), the Cancer Support Community and Fight Colorectal Cancer.
With the rapidly expanding cancer immunotherapy field, SITC created an online community, SITC Cancer Immunotherapy CONNECT (SITC CONNECT), to educate all who want to learn more about cancer immunotherapy. This active community of researchers, physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, industry personnel and patients serves as the gateway for accessing current information on cancer immunotherapy. Now, with these new partnerships, visitors to SITC CONNECT can access resources from ALCF, the Cancer Support Community and Fight Colorectal Cancer in the SITC Resource Library.
“By partnering with these leading organizations, SITC is committed to developing an online destination where people can find the scientific and clinical information they need when they need it,” said SITC President Lisa H. Butterfield, PhD. “Through our society’s partnerships, we remain at the forefront of cancer immunotherapy research and education, and increasingly, in patient outreach.”
The partnerships provide unique benefits, as each organization serves a different audience. “Our immunotherapy-related materials continue to be among our most sought-after resources for patients,” said Kim Thiboldeaux, CEO of the Cancer Support Community, a global nonprofit that operates in 175 locations. “As new reports on this treatment continue to make headlines, the Cancer Support Community is thrilled to collaborate with SITC CONNECT to ensure patients and their loved ones can get answers to their questions about immunotherapy-related options.”
Dozens of high-quality, informative, immunotherapy-related resources have been added to the SITC Resource Library to date, with many more to come in the future. “Working together to increase the number of educational resources available is key to our future success in the rapidly growing cancer field,” said Anjee Davis, president of Fight Colorectal Cancer. “Our valuable partnership with SITC expands the reach of Fight Colorectal Cancers’ scientific and clinical resources as they are now available on SITC CONNECT.”
SITC CONNECT also provides a collaborative forum, SITC communities, for online discussion of scientific breakthroughs and innovative research. The partnering organizations can now contribute to the society’s online community.
“By engaging in SITC’s existing online communities, we can better facilitate collaboration between researchers and clinicians to help transform this field and the treatment of lung cancer – specifically as it relates to helping lung cancer patients live longer,” said Danielle Hicks, associate executive director of patient services and programs at ALCF.
With the expansion of information and organizations focused on cancer immunotherapy, a critical need exists for a resource destination for people to find trustworthy content. SITC continues to expand its resources through innovative partnerships with other leading cancer organizations.
