Susquehanna Service Dogs Honors 37 Dogs and People in 2018 Graduation Celebration
HARRISBURG, Pa. (PRWEB) April 24, 2018 -- Susquehanna Service Dogs (SSD) will honor 37 dogs and people during its 2018 Graduation Celebration on April 28 at 1 pm at Dauphin County Technical School in Harrisburg, PA. Doors will open at 12 pm.
These 37 dogs have been placed as working service dogs, including facility and courthouse dogs; detection K-9s for the CIA; companion dogs; breeding dogs; and demonstration dogs.
SSD’s graduation celebration is an opportunity to everyone from the dog’s puppy raiser to the service dog’s partner to celebrate the success of the dog and team.
“While this day is a celebration, it is also very emotional,” says Pam Forman, SSD’s director. “You see the interaction between everyone who has played a part in each dog’s life to make them successful.”
A program of Keystone Human Services, Susquehanna Service Dogs breeds, raisers, trains, and places service dogs to support individuals with disability. Each service dog is individually trained to enhance their partner’s life and assist them to become more independent. Service dogs can assist people with physical disabilities that impact mobility or balance, as well as people with psychiatric disabilities, autism, post-traumatic stress disorder, and seizure disorders. SSD also trains service dogs for military veterans and hearing dogs to assist people with hearing impairments.
Susquehanna Service Dogs is a fully accredited program of Assistance Dogs International and a program of the United Way of the Capital Region.
