Get Ugly Sweaters is a Finish Line Sponsor at Project Bread's 50th Annual Walk for Hunger
BOSTON (PRWEB) April 25, 2018 -- Last November, Boston-based company, Get Ugly Sweaters, partnered with Project Bread, an organization that strengthens local communities by promoting sustainable and reliable access to healthy food for all.
Since teaming up, Get Ugly Sweaters raised $3,000 dollars for Project Bread through the sale of their sweaters. This money will be used to feed 6,000 people in need of a meal in the state of Massachusetts.
Continuing their partnership in 2018, Get Ugly Sweaters will be a Finish Line Sponsor at Project Bread's 50th Annual Walk for Hunger on Sunday, May 6th, and will walk as a team in the event as well. Since 1969, the Walk for Hunger has provided 1B meals to food-insecure individuals and families living in Massachusetts. 263 community-based programs in Massachusetts rely on the money raised from the walk, which is named the oldest pledge walk in the country.
"We’re grateful to be able be a part of this incredible community that is making a difference in the lives of so many people," says Caitlyn McGuire, Get Ugly Sweaters team member. "These are the movers and shakers of the city that are creating noise and making an impact, and it’s a privilege for us to raise funds and walk in support of service and programs that ward off hunger."
Project Bread's Walk for Hunger is a celebration that strengthens local food systems, educates and empowers Massachusetts residents to break the cycle of hunger. The walk itself will start between 8AM and 9:30AM on the Boston Common. There are nine checkpoints with refreshments, cheering, snacks, and entertainment. There will also be a 5K run preceding the walk that begins at 7AM.
