The Women in Leadership Summit, held at the Marriott Harbor Beach Fort Lauderdale, is designed for women in leadership roles -- including mid-level to senior managers, directors, VPs, and C-level -- in corporations, non-profits, and government agencies. It is also a great opportunity for men who lead diverse teams and seek greater understanding of how to better recruit, engage, develop, and retain talented women.
“This is a unique event, where dynamic thought leaders and women who want to advance in leadership work together toward a common goal – improving gender parity in business leadership overall, with a special focus on women in technology leadership, where gender parity is even worse than in other areas,” said Rachel Cooke, Chief Operating Officer at Brandon Hall Group and the founder of the event.
Brandon Hall Group is the leading independent human capital management research and analyst firm, with more than 10,000 clients globally and 25 years of delivering research-based solutions that empower excellence in organizations.
Bonnie St. John, CEO of Blue Circle Leadership, is the keynote speaker. She will share insights from her book, How Great Women Lead. Blue Circle partnered with Brandon Hall Group for the Women in Technology Leadership initiative, which includes new research on the struggle for gender parity in technology. The study revealed that 70% of organizations employ women in less than one-quarter of their technical jobs. Only 20% of organizations with a Chief Information Officer position employ a woman in that capacity, and 75% of organizations have less than one-quarter of their C-suite roles filled by women leaders.
Two of the summit sessions will focus on women in technology. They will include insights from the research and top women technology leaders, plus crowd-sourcing ideas and solutions to advance women in technology. Other wide-ranging sessions include:
- Strategies for curbing implicit bias that often hampers women from moving into top leadership roles.
- Creating a culture of sponsorship for women leaders.
- Effectively leading different generations in the workforce.
- Building ROI for women leadership initiatives.
- Guiding your organization to a journey to inclusion
- Building a winning mindset by adopting techniques used by elite athletes and military special forces performing in the face of non-stop mental, emotional, and physical stress.
