Two Citrus Valley Health Partners Hospitals Receive an “A” for Patient Safety in Spring 2018 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade

“Our priority has always been—and will always be—the safety of our patients." - Citrus Valley Health Partners Chief Medical Officer Dr. Gurjeet Kalkat.

Two hospitals in the San Gabriel Valley are among the safest in the nation according to Leapfrog—a distinguished watchdog group on quality and safety measures.

Queen of the Valley Hospital in West Covina and Foothill Presbyterian Hospital in Glendora received “A” ratings by The Leapfrog Group, a Washington D.C-based organization aiming to improve health care quality and safety for consumers and purchasers. The hospitals, operated by Citrus Valley Health Partners, are two of 750 awarded an “A” for its efforts in protecting patients from harm and meeting the highest safety standards in the U.S.

“We are extremely proud of this double honor as it demonstrates the strong commitment of our staff and physicians to deliver the highest standards of quality care to our patients,” says CVHP President & CEO Robert H. Curry.

The Leapfrog “A” rating is just the latest in a long list of recognitions based on the hospitals’ dedication to clinical excellence. Other noteworthy awards and recent certifications include Women’s Choice Awards in Patient Safety, Stroke Center and Heart Care; Healthgrades’ Excellence Award in Obstetrics & Gynecology, “Site of the Year” designation by Vituity and Gold awards by American Heart Association for both heart and stroke care.

“Our priority has always been—and will always be—the safety of our patients. Highly reliable and safe care is part of our organization’s mission and everything we do is guided by that mission,” adds Chief Medical Officer Dr. Gurjeet Kalkat.

Developed under the guidance of an Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 27 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to approximately 2,500 U.S. hospitals twice per year. It is peer reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.
