Colleen Auld’s Newly Released “Red Flags” is a Bold and Harrowing Memoir of a Woman who Missed the Warning Signals and Ended up in an Abusive Marriage.
MEADVILLE, Pa. (PRWEB) May 03, 2018 -- “Red Flags”: a gripping memoir of a woman who survived an abusive marriage. “Red Flags” is the creation of published author Colleen Auld, a loving mother and a former emergency medical technician and volunteer firefighter who lives north of Long Island with her two cats.
Colleen shares, “I slowly opened up the bathroom door and peeked out to listen if Peter was still snoring, and he was. Thank God because how do I explain to him without him getting mad my talking to my ex-husband on our honeymoon. I walked over to the sink and washed the tears off my face and patted my face and neck dry and quietly walked back to my bed and put my phone back into my pocketbook only after deleting my call to George first. At that point it’s impossible to fall asleep, so I took a Valium to calm myself and went into the other room to watch television trying to get my mind on to something else. There was an infomercial about makeup, but I couldn’t concentrate and then it hit me. I figured out my interpretation of my dream. It was out of guilt for hurting George. To me it was another red flag because I remember George once telling me that he didn’t like Peter. He said he was immature and was not a good person to be associated with. Of course, I didn’t listen to him when he first told me. I was so blinded by love that I ignored all the signs.”
Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Colleen Auld’s new book is a heartbreaking story of the insidious reality of domestic violence and abusive relationships, but also of her victorious escape and a happy life in the aftermath.
Though grim at first and an effective warning for others missing the warning signs, the author’s book is ultimately one of compassion and hope for fellow survivors as well as those who are yet to break free from their domestic prisons.
