“Driven by the Spirit”: a sympathetic but steadfast manual for developing spiritual strength. “Driven by the Spirit is the creation of published author T. R. Salzer, who was urged by the Holy Spirit to write a book detailing a plan to grow one’s relationship with God.
Salzer contemplates, “So, how do we grow our reliance on God? We need to suffer to learn obedience. While it may be counterintuitive to seek suffering, it is necessary to avoid complacency and to mature our faith. The suffering I am referring to is simply self-denial—putting the needs of others ahead of our own needs. Isn’t that exactly what Christ did for us and expects us to do as well? Even though it is good and noble to give your time and money to charity, this is not the suffering I am referring to. This self-denial must be felt either physically or emotionally to truly be suffering. There cannot be any hidden agenda (tax-break, pride, or fellowship building). I am not saying these things are wrong, they have their place especially for the Christians who are already struggling in their everyday lives. I am saying that if the goal is faith-building, there cannot be any other motivation other than total reliance on God through suffering.”
Published by Christian Faith Publishing, T. R. Salzer’s new book is a compelling spiritual roadmap that offers a realistic plan for developing an enriching relationship with God, in much the same way a wayward young adult must re-learn how to develop trust and communication with a loving parent.
Sensitive to God’s fatherly heart toward the spiritual “adolescents” many Christians tend to be, the author understands the need for a two-way communication between the Spirit and every believer, a relationship full of advice, consolation, and love, no matter what happens in life.
