Starlight Community Theaters Brings a Timeless Classic to Life With Eight Performances of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
PHOENIX (PRWEB) May 02, 2018 -- Starlight Community Theater (SCT) will be presenting Chitty Chitty Bang Bang for eight performances from May 4 through March 13. This production marks the ninth show of SCT’s 2017-2018 season.
Based off 1968 film version of Ian Fleming's children's book, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang follows kooky inventor, Caractacus Potts and his two children, Jeremy and Jemima, as they try to restore an old race car. However, it doesn’t take long for the family to discover that the car has magical abilities that allows it to fly. Along the way, the family joins forces with Truly Scrumptious and wacky Grandpa Potts to stop villians from taking the car for their own.
With a great cast and ensemble, the cast of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang have come together to bring this timeless classic to life. Along with this, eight families are included in the show to exhibit Starlight’s mission to enrich the community and encourage youth and adult participation in theater.
“Chitty is truly a classic family musical and has even brought local families together as we have eight families in the show,” said Christian Graca, Director of Chitty Chitty Bang, “for those seeking adventure, comedy, great songs and most of all fun, we invite you to see this timeless show.”
In 2002, the musical premiered in West End with six new songs by the Sherman brothers. The following year, it was nominated for multiple awards from Whatsonstage.com and the Laurence Olivier Awards. In addition, to accommodate to the flying the car, the original production still holds the Guinness World Record for the most expensive stage prop
