“Mommy, Is Hell Real?”: a vital children’s book about salvation and eternal questions. “Mommy, Is Hell Real?” is the creation of published author Sammy Nelson, an Army vet from North Central, Florida, who worked with his wife, Belinda, in children’s ministry for over twenty years.
Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Sammy Nelson’s new book is a notable work inspired by the realization that there are hardly any children’s books on the topic of hell; leaving the youngest members of the church in the dark.
Nelson’s book, based on this pressing need for reaching out to the children, forgoes theological jargon to cut straight to the big message of the Bible and the origin and meaning of hell.
Nelson writes, “Boys and girls, God’s own Son, Jesus, will go to hell by way of the cross. Let us take a very closer look.
"Boys and girls, all of the four Gospels tell us about Jesus’s crucifixion. Each one gives us a different story about what happened to Jesus. Listen very carefully.
All the gospel writers wrote that all of the people began to cry out to Pilate, the Roman governor, to crucify Jesus. Pilate’s wife had a horrible dream about Jesus. She told her husband to have nothing to do with Jesus because He was innocent. Pilate ordered the soldiers to beat Jesus. After the soldiers beat Jesus, Pilate asked the crowd to let Jesus go. But the crowd demanded that Pilate crucify Jesus.
"Pilate gave the order to his soldiers to crucify Jesus. The soldiers nailed Jesus to a cross. They placed Jesus’s cross between two criminals. There on the cross, Jesus died and went to hell.
Boys and girls, it appears that we have found hell, and Jesus is in the middle of it.”
