Richard Ochoa’s new book “Unstoppable: The Life and Times of a Used Car Salesman” is an astonishing memoir that reframes the cultural legend of the sleazy salesman.
EL PASO, Texas (PRWEB) May 07, 2018 -- Richard Ochoa retired from the automobile sales industry and moved back to his beloved home town of El Paso, Tx. Having become ill from Parkinson’s disease. He spends much of his time working out with "Rock Steady Boxing" of El Paso, to stay active and combat the debilitating effects of the disease, has completed his new book “Unstoppable: The Life and Times of a Used Car Salesman”: a probing memoir of an unlikely used-car salesman succeeding in a thankless industry.
Author Ochoa writes about how his aggressive salesmanship won him both success and hostility: “They wanted to see the new Bonnevilles and pretty much knew what they wanted. The whole transaction took a little over an hour, and they paid cash for one which was on the showroom floor. When all was said and done I had made a $550 commission and was quite pleased with myself. About that time one guy Frank said, ‘Richard, don’t you feel bad about stepping in front of Sam to get that sale?’
I said, ‘I didn’t step in front of Sam, and if I did, he probably would not have sold the car anyway.’ About that time I had to jump out of the way of a huge fist that Sam had thrown at me.”
Published by New York City-based Page Publishing, Richard Ochoa’s new book is a remarkable, candid peek behind the curtains into what is commonly seen as a high-stakes, ruinous industry—for both the salesman and the buyer. Fully aware of the public’s attitude toward an industry that more or less earned its reputation, Ochoa opens people’s eyes to its truths and myths while remaining a sympathetic character making his way through it.
