HNTB’s Jennifer Weger and Will Allen earn ‘Rising Star’ recognition from Civil + Structural Engineer magazine
KANSAS CITY, Miss. (PRWEB) May 02, 2018 -- Jennifer Weger, PE, and Will Allen, PE, PTOE, both toll technology senior analysts with HNTB Corporation’s National Toll Technology Consulting Practice, were named 2018 “Rising Stars” by Civil + Structural Engineer magazine. Allen and Weger were two of only 13 professionals nationwide selected for the recognition.
“Jennifer and Will serve as shining examples of the best and brightest emerging talent in HNTB’s toll group,” said Kevin Hoeflich, PE, senior vice president and HNTB’s chairman of toll services. “This recognition is a testament to their passion for advancing the toll industry, commitment to their clients and projects, and outstanding work in representing HNTB across the country.”
The annual recognition honors industry professionals 40 years old or younger who have demonstrated “exceptional technical capability, leadership ability, effective teaching or research, or public service benefiting the civil and structural engineering profession, their employers, project owners and society,” according to Civil + Structural Engineer, a national trade publication that serves 90,000 readers.
HNTB’s National Toll Technology Consulting Practice is a specialty group of over two dozen toll technology and operations experts advising on behalf of toll agencies around the U.S. within the larger set of HNTB toll services.
Weger has more than 13 years of experience as a transportation planner and traffic engineer. Her notable projects include serving as project manager and subject matter expert on various express lanes network planning efforts for regions in Florida and Georgia and as project manager for on-call support of Georgia’s State Road and Tollway Authority to support consolidation of the back-office operations of the Authority’s tolling and transit teams.
In 2012, Weger earned the Trailblazer Award from the Atlanta chapter of the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials, as a result of her efforts to get minority engineering professionals more involved in their industry and local communities. This initiative was undertaken through her participation in the Atlanta chapter of Women’s Transportation Seminar.
Weger earned Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees in civil engineering from Georgia Tech University.
Allen is one of the newest members of the practice, and brings 11 years of experience as a civil and traffic engineer. His background includes traditional and alternative project design and delivery, as well as program and project management.
His notable projects include serving as lead tolling oversight consultant for the San Diego Association of Governments Roadway Toll Collection System Implementation Project and San Bernardino County Transportation Authority’s I-10 Express Lanes Project. Prior to joining the firm’s toll group, he served as lead roadway engineer for Massachusetts Department of Transportation’s recently opened I-95/Whittier Bridge Design-Build Project.
Allen earned a Master of Science in civil engineering from Northeastern University and a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Michigan State University.
