“Texans deserve real choices at the ballot box, instead of having democracy dictated to them by two political parties. We need a Senator who will vote in the best interests of their constituents and not use the office as a stepping stone,” said Jenkins.

"A tech entrepreneur who will listen, provide solutions, and bring Texans together"
Jonathan Jenkins, 35, a successful tech entrepreneur who has spent decades building startups both here and abroad, announced today that he will challenge Ted Cruz and Beto O’Rourke as a candidate for the U.S. Senate in the upcoming November 6 general election.
“Texans deserve real choices at the ballot box, instead of having democracy dictated to them by two political parties. We need a Senator who will vote in the best interests of their constituents and not use the office as a stepping stone,” said Jenkins.
“After founding the Indie Party to support candidates who are beholden to the people rather than political parties, I decided I could no longer sit on the sidelines and watch others battle to take our democracy back. I’m motivated by the many friends and supporters who’ve encouraged me to roll up my sleeves and enter the fray. I’m not running as a Republican, or a Democrat but as a Texan. We’ve all spent too many years listening to candidates who go to Washington to talk. I’m going to Washington to work,” said Jenkins.
Jenkins for Senate is finishing up its signature gathering efforts, and will be submitting them in the coming weeks to qualify for the ballot in November. Jenkins will be listed on Texas ballots as an independent, with the endorsement from the Indie Party. The Indie Party is an organization dedicated to electing candidates outside of the two party system that embraces Blockchain technology to give campaign supporters maximum transparency into campaign funding and operations. As a Senate candidate, Jenkins has resigned his position as Indie Party CEO.
“We’re thrilled that Jonathan has decided to challenge the duopoly the major parties have held over Texans’ choices at the ballot box. Both parties have rigged the game to deny people outside the political system opportunities to become candidates for far too long,” said Josh Butler, Political Director of the Indie Party.
The Jenkins campaign will also be an early adopter of cryptocurrency, using the Indie Party’s brand-new “Indie Token” to incentivize political engagement and recognize the efforts of grassroots volunteers and the support of campaign donors. Jenkins for Senate will kick-off the campaign with a listening tour, spanning 72 Texas towns, focusing on the perspectives and experiences of small-town Texans who have been overlooked by the major party candidates.
