Minimally Invasive Spine Surgeon Joins Physician Partners of America
HURST, Texas (PRWEB) May 31, 2018 -- Physician Partners of America announces that it will soon perform minimally invasive laser spine procedures in its Dallas-Fort Worth territory with the hiring of Phillip Kravetz, M.D.
Dr. Kravetz will see patients and perform procedures at 1717 Precinct Line Road, Suite 204 Hurst, TX 76054 and 5575 Warren Parkway, Suite 104, Frisco, TX, 75034 starting June 11.
Dr. Kravetz is board-certified in Orthopedic Surgery with a specialty in Spinal Surgery, and is a member of the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons. He is one of a relatively small number of spine surgeons who successfully use minimally invasive techniques in cases that are traditionally treated with open back surgery. This including adult-onset scoliosis (curvature of the spine) and fusions.
Dr. Kravetz comes to PPOA after nearly 20 years in private practice.
A native of the Detroit area, he earned his medical degree at the University of Michigan Medical School. During that time, he did a Howard Hughes Medical Institute research fellowship in Molecular Pharmacology at Harvard Medical School and at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
He completed an internship in General Surgery at Rush Medical Center in Chicago, and did his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. After that, he completed a fellowship with the Institute of Spinal Disorders at Baylor University Medical School in Houston.
Dr. Kravetz began training in minimally invasive spine procedures when the technique was in its infancy, in 2001. He trained intensively to learn the techniques, and later began teaching others. He has since taught hundreds of spine surgeons on nearly every continent.
“I’ve always been big on education and teaching,” Dr. Kravetz says. “I also enjoy teaching patients about minimally invasive techniques. If they understand their spine problem and about the surgery itself, they are more likely to have a good outcome and be more comfortable.”
PPOA created its Minimally Invasive Spine division in January 2018 with the hiring of James St. Louis, D.O., the surgical founder of the Laser Spine Institute.
Texas patients can make appointments for evaluations or free MRI reviews with Dr. Kravetz at either the Hurst or Frisco location by calling (817) 576-0885. Same-day visits are available.
