This video training is conducted by renowned landscape painter Lori McNee, an exhibiting member of Oil Painters of America and the American Impressionist Society as well an author and internationally followed art blogger. In this video students will discover how to use water-mixable oils to paint the glowing snow and beautiful greens Lori is known for in two start-to-finish demos: a winter scene and a summer scene. Lori will also share some different mediums she uses to create interesting textures. Along the way, students will learn how to paint landscape elements including trees, grasses, sky, clouds, snow, and water. (Painting lessons apply to traditional oils and acrylics as well as water-mixable oils.)

About the artist:
Lori McNee lives in the beautiful Northern Rocky Mountains of Central Idaho, where she derives much of her inspiration. A native of California and reared in the Southwest, Lori cultivated an interest in art and nature during her childhood.
While her three children were young, Lori began a career as a wildlife artist in the 1980s-90s. During this time she mentored with famed wildlife artists Robert Bateman, John Seerey-Lester, Carl Brenders, and Vivi Crandall. Lori illustrated for such organizations as Ducks Unlimited, The Nature Conservancy, and the Wolf Education Research Center, and various trout and duck stamps as well as books. In 2000, Lori discovered plein air and still life painting. After studying with artists Robert Moore and Joe Anna Arnett, Lori made a shift from working with photographs to painting from life.
Today, Lori’s broad spectrum of artwork includes poetic landscape, still life, and encaustic wax paintings that often incorporate birds or other wildlife. Her paintings have been featured in numerous publications including PleinAir Magazine, Fine Art Connoisseur, Southwest Art, Artist’s Magazine, American Art Collector, and Western Art Collector. Lori is an Ambassador Artist for Royal Talens, Princeton Brush Company, and Fredrix Artist Canvas. She is a certified Master Artist in Cobra Water-Mixable Oil Paints, and is an exhibiting member of Oil Painters of America, the American Impressionist Society, and the Encaustic Art Institute, and she serves on the city of Ketchum, Idaho’s Ketchum Arts Commission. Lori also teaches three or four painting workshops each year, at home and abroad.
