GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (PRWEB) May 03, 2018 -- Today, MiEntertainment and Prime Social Group announce the highly anticipated lineup for the return of Breakaway Music Festival in Grand Rapids, MI. The two-day festival is set to take place August 24-25.
Breakaway Michigan carefully explores the intersection of hip-hop and electronic music resulting in a supremely curated lineup that includes some of the most impressive names in the industry with festival headliner Odesza on Friday and Khalid to headline Saturday. The lineup also features Borgeous, Flosstradamus, Jaden Smith, Kayzo, Dombresky, Grey, Maxo Kream, Tee Grizzley and more key players to be announced.
“We are excited to bring Breakaway back to Grand Rapids for year 2. With the resounding success of its debut last year, we believe this year's lineup is perfect for the western Michigan area and helps build upon the strong bill that built the foundation of this festival in 2017,” Managing Partner Zach Ruben said.
Breakaway Michigan will continue its mission to bring top-notch lineups and next level production to Grand Rapids with its well-thought-out roster of chart-topping artists. Electric music titans and synth-pop wizards festival headliner Odesza will finish out the electronic portion of the bill on Friday night. With an impressive 2017, Odesza was nominated for not one but two Grammys for the “Best Dance Recording” with Line of Sight and for “Best Dance/Electronic Album” with “ A Moment Apart”. Odesza is arguably the most sought out festival headliner for 2018.
Also bringing world-class talent to Grand Rapids is R&B’s breakout vocalist Khalid who will headline on Saturday. At just 19 years old, Khalid received five different Grammy nominations including “Best New Artist”, “Song of the Year” and “Best Music Video” for his feature on 1-800-273-8255, “Best R&B Song” for Location, and “Best Urban Contemporary Album” for his debut studio album American Teen.
Helping to round out the electronic portion phase 1 lineup is reigning trap lord Flosstradamus, EDM veteran Borgeous, DOGHOUSE bossman Kayzo, “Pardon My French” internationally recognized Dombresky, and American electronic duo Grey. The hip-hop portion includes trendsetting artist Jaden Smith, Soundcloud Sensation Maxo Kream and Michigan’s own Tee Grizzley. Additional artists will be named in the upcoming weeks.
Coming in 2018, Breakaway Music Festival will not only return to Grand Rapids but will also touch down in Columbus’ Mapfre Stadium Aug. 24-26, Charlotte’s AvidXchange Music Factory Oct. 12-13, will expand to Nashville’s Bicentennial Capitol Mall Oct. 5-6, and just took place in Dallas’ Toyota Music Factory in April.
“It’s great to have Grand Rapids in such good company with other major Breakaway cities. Our goal is to continue to enhance the outdoor live music scene in West Michigan and we believe this lineup is a good step in that direction,” Chris Meyer of MiEntertainment stated.
