About joining uBiome's expert board, Dr. Gersh said: “When I was approached with the invitation to join the Scientific Advisory Board for uBiome, I was thrilled! My relationship with uBiome now offers me a greater platform from which to educate others on the need to care for and properly test the specific gut and vaginal microbiomes. I look forward to growing my personal appreciation and knowledge of human and microbial life. I also anticipate expanding my knowledge on the best ways to optimize human health through the testing and nurturing of our microbiomes by harnessing this brand new understanding we have of what it means to be human.”

The Director of the Integrative Medical Group of Irvine, Dr. Gersh holds a medical degree from the USC School of Medicine, where she was named the top female graduating physician and was in the top five percent of her class. A renowned specialist on the subject of women’s health, Dr. Gersh has lectured at medical conferences around the world and is due to publish a book on Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. She has received the Orange County Medical Association's Physician of the Year Award for the last 13 years, as well as Southern California's “Super Doctor” award. SmartJane is the first sequencing-based, doctor-ordered, at-home women’s health test to combine human papillomavirus (HPV) genotyping, sexually transmitted infections (STI) testing, and microbial risk factors for HPV infection, as well as bacterial vaginosis, cervicitis, idiopathic infertility, pelvic inflammatory disease, bacterial vaginosis, and aerobic vaginitis. The test is not intended to replace traditional Pap smears or well woman visits. Like all uBiome tests, SmartJane has an easy sample collection process that takes under two minutes to complete and is mailed directly to the laboratory, making it simple and convenient to use.
