Golf Academy of America in Orlando Holds Graduation Ceremony Featuring Golf Channel’s Chantel McCabe
ORLANDO, Fla. (PRWEB) May 07, 2018 -- Golf Academy of America in Orlando held its Spring 2018 graduation ceremony on April 21, 2018, honoring the 17 students who completed their academic studies. The program was held at The Westin Lake Mary and featured a speech by Golf Channel’s Chantel McCabe.
Following the welcome and the Pledge of Allegiance, Salutatorian Daniel Grooms gave a short address, followed by Valedictorian Shannon McMillian, who spoke about the journey the graduates took through Golf Academy of America as they studied every aspect of the business of golf.
A highlight of the event was guest speaker Chantel McCabe from Golf Channel who spoke following McMillian’s speech. McCabe, who most recently worked on the Golf Channel show Shotmakers, shared her story and her unexpected career shift from sports management to sports broadcasting on golf television. McCabe gave all the Golf Academy of America graduates an open invitation to visit the Golf Channel.
Brad Turner, President of Golf Academy of America, then recognized the honors graduates and bestowed the President’s Award to one deserving student, Luis F. Fehus. Turner also presented special awards to the team that created the best practical plan for growing the game of golf during Golf Academy of America’s capstone course, and honored McMillian for tirelessly giving his time as a volunteer.
Following Turner, Academic Dean Ron Jones took the podium to recognize the players who passed the PGA Playing Abilities Test and the short game skills test. He also honored graduate Antonio E. Borghesi with the prestigious Conrad Rehling Award.
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of diplomas to graduates, which was presided over by Director of Career Development Brendon Elliott.
“Our students have worked very hard for months and months to get to this day, and we are so proud of all our graduates,” said National Director of Operations Steve Newman. “We are confident that our Golf Academy of America graduates will go on to successful careers in the golf industry.”
