Hugh Moon White Whiskey Wins Double Gold Medal at WSWA Convention
SALT LAKE CITY (PRWEB) May 08, 2018 -- The WSWA Convention is the premier event where distributors seek out new and exciting beverage products, meet with existing partners and look for services to enhance internal operations. At this years 75th Annual Convention & Exposition, April 30-May 3, in Las Vegas, Dented Brick Distillery was awarded a double gold medal for it's newly released Hugh Moon White Whiskey, a 100% Rye Whiskey inspired by Mormon Pioneer and Distiller Hugh Moon. Dented Brick Distillery is located on Hugh Moon's homesteader farm, where Hugh once distilled this same spirit. In addition, Dented Brick was awarded a Silver Medal for it's newly released Gin expression, Great Basin Bristlecone Gin.
In addition to winning the Double Gold, Dented Brick won Gold for it's Antelope Island Rum, and Silver for it's Roofraiser Vodka.
Judging and judging criteria for the Wine & Spirits Tasting Competition is managed by The Tasting Panel magazine and The Somm Journal, two of the most widely circulated trade publications in the beverage industry, reaching an audience of thousands of key decision-makers every month.
Finally, Dented Brick's Head Distiller and Mixologist, Michael Patrick McSorley won second place in the cocktail competition for his excellent rendition of a classic rum comber.
Jan’s Mango Comber
Ingredients:
1.5 oz Jan Stephenson’s Mango Rum
0.5 oz lime juice
1.0 oz Ginger Syrup
2 dashes cardamom bitters
Splash champagne
Instructions: Combine all ingredients into a Boston shaker with ice and shake hard for at least 15 seconds. Fine strain contents into a hollowed out cucumber placed in an appropriate stand such that it stands vertically. Top up with Champagne. Insert a long bend straw and garnish with a lei of Thai orchids.
Garnish: Lei of Thai Orchids
Glassware: 1 whole cucumber, hollowed out in a NEAT Glass.
This competition required prior review and then, once accepted into the competition, cocktails were judged on flavor, use of product, originality and presentation in a blind taste test by top mixologists and industry experts selected by The Tasting Panel magazine.

This follows closely after Dented Bricks multiple medal win at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Renowned in the industry for its integrity and impartiality, the San Francisco World Spirits Competition(SFWSC) has become one of the most respected and influential spirits competitions in the world. Products awarded a Gold medal are exceptional. They are near the pinnacle of achievement in their particular category. They are products that set the standard for all others of their type. It is with great satisfaction that Dented Brick was awarded our first Gold Medal win for Hugh Moon 100% Rye Whiskey. Hugh Moon is the first in a series of labels based on stories of authentic and true western characters. Look for more of these historic themed releases in the near future.
In addition to this prestigious award, Dented Brick was awarded the Silver Medal for it's newly released Well Gin and Well Vodka, and a Bronze Medal for it's Well Rum. This was the 18th San Francisco World Spirits Competition; it was founded in 2000 as a way to recognize exceptional products in the spirits industry.
