"We talk to our clients so that that they are familiar with what background checks are available," said Corra Group Co-Founder, Gordon Basichis. "Then we customize their screening packages to fulfill their individual needs. That way we obtain a level of comfort with all of our clients."

Corra Group has added a full suite of international background checks for the advertising, media, and entertainment industry. The international searches can be used for in-house hires and for screening talent that may be working or appearing in a commercial campaign or television show.

“With the global economy being what it is, media and entertainment is more than ever an international market,” said Corra Group Co-Founder, Gordon Basichis. “And with the international market it is often necessary to hire talent either for production or before the camera that has the necessary inclusion and global appeal. Corra Group recognizes this need in television and film production companies as well as international advertising and media groups and as such is offering a complete suite of background checks for employment screening and talent hires. These international searches can be standalone or add-ons to our media and entertainment employment screening packages.

Basichis noted that the international background checks can include criminal records and civil searches in almost every country of the world, as well as social media searches and identity verification searches. He pointed out that with all the negative surprises among different talent on the reality shows, conducting both domestic and international background checks are more important than ever.

“You don’t want your talent making headlines for some ugly things in their past,” said Basichis. “And with advertising agencies, production companies, and focus groups. For the most part they are contracted with major corporate entities. The last thing they need is to have the wrong kind of person representing their talent on the national or international stage. It can prove embarrassing to the brand and costly.

“The information we have seen on social media reports alone can make your hair stand on end,” said Basichis. “It is not the kind of stuff a Fortune company wants to have as part of its product representation. As for criminal records search, there are the minor offenses that may not necessary pose a problem for, say, a reality show or a commercial campaign. And then there are the criminal offenses that send people ducking for cover. Unless you are doing a show about crime, I would think you would want to refrain from hiring convicted felons with violent offenses.”

Basichis explained that Corra Group first consults with its clients to ascertain the best background checks to fit the requirements. He indicated background screening not a one size fits all proposition.

“We talk to our clients. Many production companies and entertainment and advertising groups are not familiar with the full spectrum of background checks. So with Corra Group, we find out what type of television show or commercial campaign they are running, and then we customize those searches to fulfill the client’s particular needs. This way we establish a meaningful level of comfort with all of our clients.”
