MCG Health’s Dr. Monique Yohanan to Join Panel Discussion on the Opioid Crisis at 2018 Medicare Advantage Summit
SEATTLE, Wash. and WASHINGTON, D.C. (PRWEB) May 09, 2018 -- MCG, part of the Hearst Health network and a leading provider of informed care solutions, announces Monique Yohanan, MD, MPH, will take part in a panel discussion at the Second National Medicare Advantage Summit in Washington, D.C. on Thursday, May 17, 2018, at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill. Dr. Yohanan will be joined by industry experts including Eric Bailly, Business Solutions Director, Anthem; Pamela Greenberg, President and Chief Executive Officer, Association for Behavioral Health and Wellness (ABHW); and panel moderator Mesfin Tegenu, President, PerformRx. The discussion will cover the current progress being made on the national Opioid Crisis, including how it has specifically affected Medicare Advantage populations. In addition, they will address how health plans are taking an active role, what state and Federal legislation is being proposed, and what types of treatment are showing improved outcomes for people suffering from opioid addiction. The group will discuss the barriers faced by healthcare professionals overseeing opioid management, and they will also take questions from the audience.
“This crisis has caused more than 350,000 overdose deaths from opioids since 1999,” said Dr. Yohanan. “Also, health and societal costs related to prescription opioid abuse have been estimated at over $55 billion annually. Recent evidence has shown that medication-assisted treatment can improve patient outcomes while simultaneously controlling costs. In our panel discussion at the Medicare Advantage Summit, we will address how evidence-based practice is providing potential solutions to the Opioid Crisis.” Dr. Yohanan brings an extensive clinical background encompassing psychiatry and internal medicine in her role as a State Government Relations Director and behavioral health expert at MCG.
The National Medicare Advantage Summit is an annual event bringing together health plans, providers, patients, and government with the focus to improve quality, costs, and access to Medicare Advantage. The panel discussion, Managing the Opioid Challenge, will run 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 17, 2018.
