20th Anniversary Camano Island Studio Tour to Open Mother’s Day Weekend
CAMANO ISLAND, Wash. (PRWEB) May 09, 2018 -- This year marks the 20th anniversary of an art event that has transformed the community of Camano Island into an art destination. The Camano Island Studio Tour will kick off on Friday, May 11 and run through Sunday May 13 with an encore weekend May 19 and 20.
According to this year’s cover artist and one of the earliest members of the Studio Tour, John Ebner, “I never would have imagined this would have grown to be such an unbelievable destination for people who love art.
Over the years, thousands have flocked to Stanwood and Camano Island to get an inside look at the artists behind the art – from ceramics to glass, from painting and mixed media to jewelry, from photography to sculpture to textiles and more – the Camano Island Studio Tour has become one of the premier art events in the Pacific Northwest.
The quality of the art has been a hallmark of the Tour since its inception, setting it apart from other arts events. Many visitors make this tour a tradition, returning every year to add to their art collections and connect with established and new artists that are selected to participate following a comprehensive juried selection process.
The reputation of Camano Island as an art destination has also inspired new artists to move to the island, making it their new home as they seek to surround themselves with a community of artists dedicated to learning from each other while gaining inspiration from the natural beauty of the island.
“I think the quality of art is continuing to grow,” Ebner added. “More artists are coming to the island now, too, recognizing the value of our arts community and adding to its diversity.”
Originally founded by Karla Matzke and Jack Gunter with a handful of artists at a local gallery, this year’s tour will feature more than 30 accomplished artists with studios stretching from Stanwood to the southern tip of Camano Island.
