New Novel Explores the Historical Tension Between Western and Islamic Cultures
SYDNEY, Australia (PRWEB) May 09, 2018 -- Luke Tremayne has faced many dangerous missions but now as a newly knighted ambassador, he has never before confronted such a cryptic and complex situation as he experiences on the North African coast. “Murder in the Maghreb” is the latest installment in the life and adventures of Luke Tremayne.
In “Murder in the Maghreb,” Luke Tremayne knows he is entering a dangerous and mysterious venture when he travels to the Islamic region of Maghreb at the request of Lord Protector Cromwell. His orders are shrouded in secrecy and his mission is anything but clear. He is sent as English ambassador to the region to assist with the security and stability of this fragile Islamic state. At the same time, he runs a covert operation to secure a precious artifact and an abducted Englishwoman.
Tremayne must navigate complex social divisions, murders within the English community and the death of a friend, while also working to uncover the assumed identity of a war criminal. Tremayne’s quest to move past the corruption and dysfunctional nature of the English community and Benbali government presents a harrowing adventure that will leave readers questioning the true nature of Tremayne’s mission, who he is truly working for, and if he will make it out alive.
“As a historian you are governed by facts and evidence, but as a novelist you can mold the facts into a greater narrative. With historical fiction, the settings, context and timeline are already set in place, you simply need to build a story around those pieces” Quaife said. “This adventure in Luke Tremayne’s life centers around Islamic North Africa. Readers will find that the tensions that exists between Western and Islamic culture in the book, mirrors some of the same issues of today.”
