Radiant Vision Systems Honored by Laser Focus World 2018 Innovators Awards Program
REDMOND, Wash. (PRWEB) May 10, 2018 -- Radiant Vision Systems, a leading provider of visual test and inspection solutions for lighting and display devices, announced today that its AR/VR Lens for Near-Eye Display Testing was recognized by the judges of the annual Laser Focus World Innovators Awards program. The judging panel consisted of a panel of senior expert professionals.
Radiant was honored with a Gold-level award for its new AR/VR lens, released January 24, 2018. The lens is specially designed for measuring the quality of near-eye displays (NEDs) integrated within virtual (VR), mixed (MR), and augmented reality (AR) headsets. An optional optical component, the AR/VR lens can be exchanged with standard optics to perform AR/VR display testing using any Radiant ProMetric® imaging photometer or colorimeter. The lens features compact hardware and an aperture design that simulates the size and position of the human eye within headsets. Using wide field of view optics, the lens enables the connected imaging system to capture a display field of view to 120 degrees horizontal, covering the average scope of human binocular vision as well as the field of view of most AR/VR devices.
“As displays are viewed nearer to the eye, defects are magnified. Issues with uniformity of brightness and color, dead pixels, line defects, cloudiness, and image position in NEDs more easily impact the user experience,” said Radiant Chief Solutions Officer, Doug Kreysar. “To measure NEDs for such quality issues, the entrance pupil of the measurement system must replicate the size and location of the human pupil. Unlike alternative lens options, where the aperture is located within the lens enclosure, the aperture of Radiant’s AR/VR lens is located on the front of the lens, enabling positioning of the imaging system’s entrance pupil within NED headsets at the same location as the human eye and preventing occlusion by headset hardware. We are honored to receive a Laser Focus World Innovators Award in recognition of this engineering effort, which provides the first commercially-available solution for full-field-of-view imaging of displays as viewed within AR/VR headsets.”
