Vota App Allows You to Automatically Record Places You Visit and Share with Friends
PORTLAND, Ore. (PRWEB) May 14, 2018 -- Years ago as students at Cornell University, Kiyo Kubo and Nick Farina patented the first location-aware mobile app technology that would be later acquired by Hewlett Packard and powering location-based apps for American Museum of Natural History, New York City’s subway system, Macy’s, Bellagio Resort and Casino, Levi’s Stadium and more. They’re back at it again with Vota, a mobile app that makes it easy to record and share with close friends the places you frequent. With a swipe of your credit card, Vota allows you to automatically record the merchants you visit, share with people you trust and even spot fraud.
The Vota app for iOS and Android devices offers the following features:
- Automatic journaling: Record places you visit and track trends (e.g., your favorite lunch spots) anytime you swipe your card. No need to open the app and manually check in.
- Stay in touch: See what your friends are up to today, and comment on their activity. Or just send them emojis.
- Discover cool places: Get personalized recommendations (e.g., your friend’s most frequented cafe) from people you trust.
- Spot fraud and budget: Notice unfamiliar charges within seconds via push notification, and keep your budget in check.
Rebecca Burrell, a private-beta tester of the app, had this to say: "I like using Vota to see where my friends are eating and visiting, yet I never expected the app to catch fraud. Within seconds, I received a push notification saying someone used my credit card to spend more than $2,000 at an online auction. Vota caught the fraud even before my bank did, and I was able to clear it up immediately."
"I don't have as much time as I'd like to manually leave reviews on consumer-review apps, so the automatic nature of Vota is really fun for me," said Drew Bernard, another private beta tester of the app. "And I never knew how much I'd enjoy engaging with my friends' posts."
Turns out, the easiest and most fun way to keep track of the places you visit is swiping your card. Yet, it’s a massive technological undertaking to integrate with banks and their myriad credit cards. Vota uses proprietary technology and bank-level security to communicate with your credit card provider so that your login information isn’t stored. Coupled with place-based APIs to provide merchant photographs and related information, Vota makes it easy to track where you visit in an engaging, beautiful way.
You can sign up for early access to Vota for your iOS or Android devices at Vota.app. Credit-card support varies depending on the various banks’ technologies. Supported credit cards include those from Chase, Capital One, Wells Fargo, US Bank, Citi, and many other Visa cards. Please visit Vota.app for more information.
