University of Miami Launches First Professional Master of Science in Finance Program
MIAMI (PRWEB) May 15, 2018 -- The Miami Business School at UM will launch a new Professional Master of Science in Finance program this fall. It has been specifically designed for professionals in South Florida looking to become the next generation of finance leaders, desiring a flexible program that fits easily with their current career responsibilities. The new program is offered in a 16-month cohort format where students meet every other week on Monday evenings and Saturdays for four semesters at the Coral Gables campus.
“The MS in Finance Program is an ideal opportunity for professionals to network within the South Florida Finance Community, both with other students in the courses and with high-profile guest speakers and finance executives,” said Dr. Henrik Cronqvist, Chair of Department of Finance and Director of Ph.D. Programs at the UM Business School.
According to the 2015 US Census, only 9% of US residents hold a master’s degree. Concentrated programs like the Professional MS in Finance will provide professionals with the edge to compete in the global marketplace without having to interrupt their career.
The state-of-the-art curriculum consists of classes in the most relevant areas of finance, from Behavioral Finance and FinTech to Hedge Funds, Alternative Investments, Wealth Management, and Real Estate. Also, a one-of-a-kind course, "Nobel Prize Winning Ideas in Finance," will explain how prominent concepts like behavioral finance, option pricing, and portfolio theory have shaped and transformed the finance industry over the last decades.
“The design of this cutting-edge master’s program is rigorous and relevant to what’s needed in the ever-changing finance sector, domestically and globally,” said John Quelch, Dean of the UM Business School. “It combines fundamental finance courses with state-of-the-art innovative modules, ensuring students become totally familiar with the latest financial technologies and industry trends.”
