Local Lab, LLC Solves Interoperability Challenges and Speeds Results Delivery with Health Gorilla Clinical Network
HAYDEN, ID and SUNNYVALE, CA (PRWEB) May 17, 2018 -- Health Gorilla (http://www.healthgorilla.com), provider of a nationwide clinical network that solves healthcare interoperability issues and drives better consumer health, and Local Lab, LLC announced they have formed a partnership to solve the Local Lab’s interoperability challenges. Health Gorilla’s Clinical Network connects all of the Local Lab’s clients to their facilities, agnostic of the EHR being used by the providers, providing complete interoperability and speeding results delivery.
The Local Lab, LLC was founded to bring the “local feel” back into lab work. With a network of labs and experts across the country, The Local Lab brings access to state-of-the-art diagnostics services to even the most under-served communities. Headquartered in the Coeur d'Alene, ID metropolitan area, The Local Lab currently serves the entire Inland Northwest and Oklahoma.
“We were seeking to improve our results delivery with a quicker turnaround time for our clients. We began a search for an interoperability solution that could provide an effective and secure form of electronic communication that is agnostic to the EHR being used by the provider on either end. Health Gorilla was able to solve our interoperability challenges and provided a fast track by immediately turning on connectivity between our client network and our lab. We are able to get results back to physicians in a way that is simpler and quicker for their practice. It’s a win-win for everyone,” explained Patrick Geren, Partner at Local Lab, LLC.
This fast track to interoperability is important in light of the new CMS Meaningful Use EHR Incentive Program -- renamed “Promoting Interoperability.” Health Gorilla’s Clinical Network can help clients meet – today -- the mandates of the new “Promoting Interoperability” initiative. Under the new program, updates to EHR and related technology include the use of application programming interfaces, or APIs for patients to collect their health information from multiple providers. Health Gorilla’s Clinical Network universal FHIR and CCDA interoperability capabilities ensure providers can continue to deliver higher quality of care for their patients, improve communication with primary care colleagues and enhance their services with collaborative health systems and health plans.
"We are excited that Local Lab chose our Clinical Network which has become a key driver in the revolution of today’s healthcare delivery by effectively connecting the entire continuum of care within a single, universal and secure platform,” stated Steve Yaskin, CEO of Health Gorilla. “We were also excited about the CMS decision to change its Meaningful Use Incentive Program to include interoperability as the key to helping EHR users achieve seamless and secure sharing of records, test results, and other information across their care continuum. Health Gorilla has been working for years to close communications gaps and interoperability issues across the medical community that demands seamless, automated communications and a single point to view entire medical history for all citizens,” Mr. Yaskin added.
“Health Gorilla’s Clinical Network can also help healthcare providers meet – today -- the new policies and procedures outlined in the recently released draft ‘Trusted Exchange Framework’ issued by the Department of HHS, Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC),” Mr. Yaskin stated.
The draft proposes policies, procedures, and technical standards necessary to advance interoperability and calls for:
• Patient Access -- Patients must be able to access their health information electronically without any special effort.
• Population-level Data Exchange -- Providers and payer organizations accountable for managing benefits can receive population level health information allowing them to analyze population health trends, outcomes, and costs; identify at-risk populations; and track progress on quality improvement initiatives.
• Open and Accessible FHIR® APIs -- The health information technology (health IT) community should have open and accessible application programming interfaces (APIs) to encourage entrepreneurial, user-focused innovation to make health information more accessible and to improve electronic health record (EHR) usability.
Health Gorilla’s clinical network securely exchanges clinical information from laboratories, imaging centers, hospitals and any EHR using industry standards (HL7, LOINC, DICOM, CCDA, and others). Health Gorilla is fully HIPAA-compliant and ONC certified and is available via mobile devices through Health Gorilla apps, which allows both medical professionals and consumers to securely access its full features while on-the-go. In addition with Health Gorilla, healthcare consumers can obtain their medical records accumulated over their lifetime, creating a comprehensive health history that they can access, as well as securely share with others.
