HNTB Continues National Leadership Role with Women’s Transportation Seminar
SAN DIEGO (PRWEB) May 18, 2018 -- Michael Sweeney, PE, HNTB East Region president, was named to the national Women’s Transportation Seminar Board of Directors, and Kammy Horne, AICP, HNTB group director and vice president, was named to the WTS Foundation Board of Directors. Their new positions were announced at the 2018 WTS Annual Conference on May 18 in San Diego. Both will serve in their roles from 2018 to 2020.
According to WTS, the Board of Directors makes governing decisions that reflect knowledge of WTS members’ needs, concerns and aspirations. The board’s responsibilities include determining the vision and mission of WTS, review and approval of the organization’s financial goals and budgets, public-relations efforts for WTS and more. The WTS Foundation works to advance women in transportation through scholarship, educational opportunities, career development and research.

Sweeney replaces Lisa Thompson, HNTB national director of toll client development and vice president, on the WTS board. Recognized as a proven industry leader, Sweeney has 31 years of experience that spans transit, transportation, and construction design and management programs. In his role at HNTB, he oversees the firm’s Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Southeast Divisions, responsible for more than 2,000 professionals.
Horne has 25 years of transportation experience in project planning, development and implementation. At HNTB, she oversees a variety of departments and staff, and helps develop and maintain client relationships. Horne has been a member of WTS since 1998 and has served in several chapter positions, including Metropolitan Phoenix Chapter president. She has completed WTS’ Mid-Career Leadership Program and Executive Leadership Program, and currently leads the inaugural mentorship program for the WTS Heart of Texas Chapter in Austin, Texas.
Nationally, HNTB has more than 350 WTS members, including 15 women senior executives. Thirty of the firm’s employees are either current or former national- and chapter-level leaders.
