But it was just one weak fleeting moment in the heat of extreme frustration. I tried to justify the unthinkable by telling myself that if Mother was still with us, she would tolerate this drastic measure for the sake of her son who was becoming a bundle of twisted nerves. So what do I do? What do I do? What I don’t do is ignore my mother’s wishes and randomly kill off her beloved ladybugs—Asian, American, or any other subspecies that may be out there. I take the only real option I have. I stand back and endure the annual malaise that is the attack of the ladybugs.”
