NEW YORK (PRWEB) May 21, 2018 -- Today, the 4A's, the leading trade organization for marketing communication agencies, announced its Enlightened Workplace Certification® program is now open for enrollment.
The 4A's Enlightened Workplace Certification® (EWC) program is aimed at improving the access, representation, advancement and workplace conditions for marginalized, underrepresented groups and providing cross-cultural and cross-identity education. The training, which can complement existing programs, aims to address inequity across race/ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation and gender identity, age, religion, disabilities and nationality.
The program is designed for and open to all agencies, regardless of type, scale and membership status.
Agencies participating in the certification program will be required to register their C-suite and HR/talent leaders for the Leadership Workshop, a three-day, in-person training series that is a mandatory step in the certification process.
The Leadership Workshops are conducted by are three experts who have proven success in provoking the organizational and cultural changes businesses need to create and sustain equitable and enlightened workplaces: Natasha Bowman, president and founder, Performance Renew; Glenn Singleton, president and founder, Courageous Conversation by PEG; and Barbara Tint, consultant and professor, Barbara Tint Consulting and Portland State University.
Singleton will lead the first day of the workshop with Courageous Conversation About Race; Tint will tackle the second day with Understanding Gender Through the Dynamics of Power and Status; and Bowman will close out the Leadership Workshop with Prevention and Intervention to Protect Your Workforces.
The Leadership Workshop will touch down in these five markets:
- Dallas: July 25-27
- Chicago: August 8-10
- New York City: Sept. 26-28
- Los Angeles: Oct. 9-11
- San Francisco: Nov. 13-15

Keesha Jean-Baptiste, 4A's SVP of talent engagement and inclusion, commented, "Since announcing the 4A's Enlightened Workplace Certification® in February, we've received interest from more than 100 agencies. It's a testament to the fact that there is real appetite for change and a huge sign that agencies are willing to do the work. We were intentional in our decision to start our first round of training with agency leadership because we know that the investment in change starts there. This has been a big passion project for us at the 4A's, and we're so excited to see it come to life."
Margie Parker-Lamparillo, 4A's EVP of learning and development and partnerships, added, "Tapping the C-suite, HR and talent leaders is a key step in reshaping agency policies and setting a new standard. The enhanced cultural competence that agency professionals will gain from the training and the program as a whole will, we hope, start a ripple effect across their individual agencies and across the industry."
The 4A's will host an info session webinar on the EWC program on Thursday, June 7. You can register here.
