Mill City Press Announces the Release of Stroke Through A Mother’s Eyes
STRATFORD, Conn. (PRWEB) May 23, 2018 -- Author Felicia Zera Kalapos shares the story of her daughter, a 32-year-old attorney and mother of three, who suffered a major stroke, as seen through her eyes and those closest to her daughter.
Within the pages of her new Mill City Press book, Stroke Through a Mother’s Eyes, Kalapos chronicles the stroke and the first year post stroke.
She shares “how love and courage can overcome temporary paralysis and the silencing wall of apraxia and aphasia.” It is a story of a mother’s fierce love for her daughter with its emotional highs and lows on the difficult path to recovery. Kalapos believes that “the reader will feel uplifted to know that miracles do happen and that a sense of victory can emerge even though the fight is not over.”
“Strokes are the fifth leading cause of death in the U.S. and the stroke rate has increased among the 20-54-year-old age group. Further, nearly 20 percent of Americans have a common heart defect (PFO) often associated with stokes with unknown causes,” Kalapos explains. Stroke Through A Mother’s Eyes brings these cold statistics to life when the author’s daughter suffers a stroke caused by a blood clot that traveled through her unknown PFO to her brain.
