Cheetah Software Systems Approved with Kansas Department of Transportation for the FAA Integration Pilot Program
WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. (PRWEB) May 22, 2018 -- As announced recently by Secretary Elaine Chao of the US Department of Transportation, Cheetah Software Systems has been selected as a participant in the UAS Integration Pilot Program (IPP) under a partnership with the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT). Under the direction of Cheetah’s drone delivery division, Cheetah Air, this new program is a major step forward to allow drone delivery testing and operations. As a private sector partner with one of the 10 awardees chosen, Cheetah Air continues to lead the automated logistic solutions industry with our new drone delivery software solution.
Announced originally under a memorandum from President Trump, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) were tasked with creating a program to further accelerate the safe integration of unmanned aircraft within the National Airspace (NAS). With this initiative created, the UAS Integration Pilot Program creates the opportunity for state, local and tribal governments to work with private sector companies to accomplish this task while utilizing new safety innovations and products.
This new program allows companies such as Cheetah Air to evaluate operational concepts such as package delivery, beyond visual line of sight operations and night operations with the intention of expanding unmanned aircraft capabilities in the NAS. As one of the private sector companies involved with this program, Cheetah will have the opportunity to work with the Kansas Department of Transportation to conduct BVLOS operations. As part of this project, new safety technologies and increased safety procedures will be utilized to both test and provide feedback to the FAA on how these types of operations can be conducted safely and effectively for future regulation purposes.
Participating in the Integration Pilot Program is just another example of how Cheetah is leading innovation within logistics operations nationwide. This news coming shortly after being recognized for the 13th consecutive year on the Top 100 Logistics IT Providers list shows how Cheetah Software Systems continues to push boundaries to provide customers with reduced delivery times while also reducing operating costs.
