The Giant® Barbecue Battle - Washington’s Sounds of the Summer
WASHINGTON (PRWEB) May 22, 2018 -- The 26th Annual Giant National Capital Barbecue Battle will feature live performances by The Plain White T’s, Back Yard Band “BYB”, Experience Unlimited “EU” featuring Sugar Bear, reggae with See-I, and international jazz recording artists Marcus Johnson and Marcus Mitchell along with a powerful lineup of 30 talented bands on 3 stages. Sit back and listen to diverse live music– including Rock, Alternative Rock, Reggae, Jazz, Blues, R&B and Go-Go – while quenching your thirst at the Giant® Corks to Caps Wine and Micro-Brew Sampling Tent, the Ravage wine tent or with a variety of Anheuser-Busch beverages.
On June 23rd and 24th, Historic Pennsylvania Avenue will transform into a festival of amazing sights, aromas, and sounds featuring headliners – The Plain White T’s, Back Yard Band “BYB”, Experience Unlimited “EU” featuring Sugar Bear, and reggae with See-I. American rock enthusiasts can rock out to The Plain White T’s, an Illinois-based band formed in 1997 by high school friends Tom Higgenson, Dave Tirio and Ken Fletcher. The band’s best known in the U.S. for the number-one hit song "Hey There Delilah," which achieved platinum status in 2007 earning two Grammy nominations, as well as "1234" and "Rhythm of Love," which were certified platinum in 2009 and 2011.
Marcus Mitchell will bring the smooth sound of jazz to The Giant National Capital Barbecue Battle. Marcus Mitchell is a saxophone star that combines smooth jazz with a mixture of soft vocals and urban funk. His ability to integrate a timeless genre with his current flair will entrance attendees of all age groups. Marcus Johnson, an American jazz musician and talented keyboardist, brings a tasty blend of contemporary jazz with hip-hop rhythms sure to have attendees grooving throughout his performance.
Some of the 2018 lineup include Bad Influence, Be’la Donna, Back Yard Band “BYB”, Experience Unlimited “EU” featuring Sugar Bear, reggae with See-I, along with many more. Attendees can enjoy free wine and micro-brew samples at the Giant® Corks to Caps Wine and Micro-Brew Sampling Tent or the Ravage wine tent. Visitors can also enjoy a delicious variety of Anheuser-Busch beverages, and can purchase tickets for our highly anticipated beer garden.

On June 23rd and 24th, 2018, historic Pennsylvania Avenue, between 3rd and 7th Streets, NW, in Washington, DC will become the epicenter of BBQ perfection, bringing together delicious BBQ, delectable summer specialties, nationally-recognized BBQ Contests, popular bands, celebrity chefs & more. The high-stakes Giant® National Barbecue Championship Cooking Contest takes place all weekend long. Teams cook off in multiple cooking contests including: the National Pork Board’s National Pork Championship, the Perdue Sizzlin’ Chicken Contest, the Smithfield BBQ Rib Contest, and America’s Best BBQ Sauce Contest. In addition, attendees can sample and vote for top military chefs from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard cooking off in the Military Chef Contest.
