University of North Alabama Selects Portfolium For Gen Ed Assessment and ePortfolios
SAN DIEGO (PRWEB) May 22, 2018 -- University of North Alabama (UNA) has selected Portfolium’s ePortfolio and program assessment software to enable interdisciplinary studies students to capture and curate learning artifacts and convert them into evidence-based career readiness skills, increasing student engagement in competency-based learning development and professional marketplace training.
Utilizing Portfolium Assessment, UNA faculty will gain the ability to customize program assessment criteria, rubrics, and student learning outcomes (SLO) in order to measure and report on program and institutional learning outcomes. Portfolium’s program assessment software features include tools such as learning pathway development, customizable rubrics tied to multiple SLOs, curriculum mapping and easy-one click SLO, program, and accreditation reporting. Portfolium’s student success network will integrate seamlessly with the institution’s current learning management system (LMS), Canvas by Instructure, providing an innovative and efficient way to connect learning artifacts with assessment and ePortfolios with minimal student and faculty training.
UNA interdisciplinary studies students will also gain the ability to collect and showcase curricular and co-curricular work and demonstrate discipline-specific development through Portfolium’s student success platform. This will enable students to earn prior-learning assessment credit based on the evidence showcased, as well as make career readiness skills tangible. As part of the platform, employers are able to match student’s evidence of skills derived from what’s being measured in the class directly to the job criteria. This will help students to reflect on their learning, increase engagement, and better understand the value of their degree.
“One of our biggest goals at UNA is to make progress towards strengthening student demonstration of career readiness," said Craig Robertson, Chair of Department of Interdisciplinary and Professional Studies at University of North Alabama. “By making marketplace qualifications three-dimensional and fully demonstrable, Portfolium will enable the ability to transition our undergraduate students into successful careers.”
“At Portfolium, we understand the significance that competency-based education has on creating an academic environment of engaged students, “ said Troy Markowitz, Vice President of Academic Partnerships at Portfolium. “That is why we are thrilled to provide UNA with a platform that provides the collection and assessment of student learning artifacts, connecting those qualifications into a bright future of opportunity.”
Portfolium’s ePortfolio’s are free for life for students to carry evidence of their curricular and co-curricular achievements and skills throughout the entire student lifecycle and beyond as alumni. As part of Portfolium’s student success platform, employers are able to match student’s evidence of skills derived from what’s being measured in the class directly to the job criteria, enabling them to increase diversity in the workplace and for students to see direct value of their degree and program.
