Emil Bach House Selected as One of 13 Stops on the New Frank Lloyd Wright Trail
CHICAGO (PRWEB) May 23, 2018 -- The Illinois Office of Tourism has selected, Emil Bach House, Chicago’s only Frank Lloyd Wright private vacation home and venue rental, as a trail stop on the new Frank Lloyd Wright Trail in Illinois.
The Frank Lloyd Wright Trail is a self-guided architectural adventure featuring 13 Wright-designed buildings open to the public throughout Illinois, where Wright lived and worked during the first 20 years of his career.
The Trail was announced by Illinois Tourism Director Cory Jobe during National Travel and Tourism Week (NTTW) May 6-12, 2018 to celebrate the NTTW theme, "Travel Then and Now.” The new trail paves the way for more domestic and international travelers to enjoy authentic experiences throughout Illinois, while celebrating Frank Lloyd Wright history and his connection to Illinois.
The Emil Bach House was built by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1915 for Emil Bach, president of Chicago’s Bach Brothers Brick Co. It was designed to provide a respite from the city while being located along a busy urban thoroughfare. Today, the House is the only remaining example of Frank Lloyd Wright’s late prairie-style houses that combined a series of geometric cubes, cantilevered flat roofs, open living areas, and extensive use of natural materials.
Overlooking a long stretch of Chicago’s famous Sheridan Road, the Emil Bach House, located at 7415 North Sheridan Road, offers an enviable setting. The first floor includes a large gathering space with an impressive fireplace, kitchen, screened in porch, dining room and lounge area. The second floor features a sun deck, study and two guest rooms, each with a full-sized hall bathroom.hich adds to the “outside inside” theme of the house.
Guests can also take advantage of the Home’s beautiful outdoor spaces, which include the Japanese Tea House and Gardens. The Japanese Tea House and Gardens offer a distinctive space and historical setting for relaxing, reading a book, playing a game or hosting a wide variety of events from small private gatherings to intimate weddings. The property holds up to 130 guests, including 25 guests inside the main house. Event rentals range from $1,495 for a five-hour interior event, or $2,595 for a five-hour event utilizing the Japanese Tea House and Gardens.
Rental rates for lodging in the home vary by season. The house sleeps up to 6 people. Winter rates start as low as $ 495/night for the house. Weekly vacation rental opportunities for the whole house will soon be available to the public.
The Emil Bach House is prominently located one block from Lake Michigan and within a few miles from the city’s famed Magnificent Mile and famous museums. There is also convenient bus and train service available.

Other stops along the trail include Oak Park, home to the world’s largest collection of Wright-designed buildings, Geneva, Rockford, Belvidere, Springfield, Kankakee, Hampshire and Dwight. The General Assembly of Illinois approved The Frank Lloyd Wright Trail on April 26, 2018. The Trail includes two itineraries highlighting all 13 public sites. The first itinerary guides visitors from Chicago and Oak Park to Rockford with stops along the way in Geneva, Hampshire and Belvidere, covering 100 miles. The second itinerary begins in Chicago and Oak Park and continues to Springfield with stops in Kankakee and Dwight, approximately 240 miles. Each plan features unique and local restaurants and attractions focusing on Illinois history and architecture.
