Chris Lavoie Named Tampa Preparatory School’s New Athletic Director
TAMPA, Fla. (PRWEB) May 25, 2018 -- After a national search, Tampa Preparatory School welcomes Chris Lavoie as their new Athletic Director. Lavoie has been a high school Athletic Director for 15 years, most recently at Wekiva High School in Apopka, Florida.
Within the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Lavoie has worked on the Sectional Appeals Committee as well as in FHSAA’s Representative Assembly since 2015. He was Osceola County’s Athletic Director of the Year in 2013, 2016 and 2017, and was a professional baseball player for both the Australian and Belgium Professional Baseball Leagues in the late ‘90s.
Today, however, Lavoie is looking to help Tampa Prep and its student-athletes grow to the next level. He plans to do this in much the same way his interview at Prep was conducted: through inclusion.
“The most impressive thing to me was going through the interview process at Tampa Prep,” Lavoie said. “There were so many different stakeholders involved in the process. To have the IT Director, student-athletes, coaches, teachers and the Dean of Faculty all have input, it made me understand how everyone is a team here. So there was no doubt this was the place for me. I plan to have the same kind of inclusion from all stakeholders as we create one-, three-, and five-year plans for the athletic program here.”
This fall, Lavoie is most looking forward to working directly with students which, he says, is the most rewarding part of the job. “I want to take an overall look at the student-athlete population. What are the GPAs? How are we defining success? Then to watch them grow and reach their goals and find that success, that is my passion,” he says.
