MyRacehorse Democratizes Thoroughbred Ownership with Online Micro-Share Platform
LOS ANGELES (PRWEB) May 31, 2018 -- Experiential Squared, a startup dedicated to building equity-based fan ownership platforms, today announced that consumers can now purchase shares of top thoroughbred horses for as little as $100 at MyRacehorse. The first-of-its-kind online micro-share platform offers equity-based shares that entitle shareholders to race winnings, awards, and proceeds. Owners also receive exclusive updates about their horses and receive invitations to owners-only events, tours to meet their horse, and race-day parties at the track. Consumers can download the app at MyRacehorse.com or at the Apple or Google app stores, and then browse the racehorses and buy shares.
“We partner with owners of top-quality thoroughbreds to buy a percentage of their horse,” said Michael Behrens, co-founder of Experiential Squared. “The shares are then broken into small increments and made available to fans through our unique digital platforms. Once virtually impossible to imagine, now partial ownership of a racehorse is just a couple of clicks way.”
Traditionally, owning a racehorse has been extremely expensive and very few could afford the cost. According to The Jockey Club, the average selling price of a two year old thoroughbred horse is $89,392, up 44.5 percent in the past 10 years. In addition, training a top quality thoroughbred can range between $40,000 to $50,000 per year.
“We heard from a lot of horseracing fans that they wanted skin in the game,” said David Kandasamy, co-founder of Experiential Squared. “But due to different securities regulations, the only way to get fans involved was through non-profit-based membership clubs. Those clubs are great, but we wanted to help people feel the thrill of actually owning a racehorse and share in any winnings that occur. With our launch, horse racing enthusiasts can now have a personal stake in top thoroughbreds.”
Through the MyRacehorse app, consumers are buying company stock that has been validly issued in compliance with applicable securities laws. Experiential Squared has established a company for each horse offered and stock in that company is what is being sold. Currently, MyRacehorse is only available to California residents with plans to launch nationally by the end of the year More information can be found at myracehorse.com/index.php/faqs/
